Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My dad was married for many years to a women that only cared about financial stability ( imagine that). They both had children from other marriages (none together). He often complained about no real love life with her. He stayed because the stability for all the children. He became terminally ill in the early 90s. When his illness began this women and her sister really sucked up to him, they poured it on hard. He was very confused and scared. They convinced him to leave his half of the estate to her. He died around 1992. They (both women) went to Atlanta with his money within a week or so of his death. They won three million dollars. This women, her sister and her children have all been living large. His children got nothing. (Yes that's correct three million.) Plus his estate of Six hundred thousand at the time of his death.

If you want to determine if you have chance of inheriting anything, you need to talk to a probate attorney.

In the Houston area, I highly recommend W. Kevin Alter at 713-526-2333.

Please tell Kevin that FRAN sent you.

I doubt you get anything.

Why?

1. You waited too long. This is 2010, he died in 1992. When did his probate close?

2. He wrote a will and left it to her voluntarily - she inherited $600,000.

3. She won money by gambling - she was lucky - she WON $3 million

I assume that you had legal counsel when your father died. If not, you should have consulted at attorney at that time.

If you did not have legal counsel at that time, perhaps you want to pay an attorney for an hour of his/her time now just for the peace of mind.

The $3 million was something she won. You and your siblings are NOT entitled to it.
