Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Dad's name on birth certificate

My daughter has my last name on her birth certificate, but my wife and I were not married at the time of her birth and there is no name listed as the father. I would like to have my name added as the father. Do I need to have an lawyer to help me or can i do this myself? If so where do I start

Re: Dad's name on birth certificate

You could file an action to acknowledge paternity which would permit a corrected birth certificate. However, you might talk to the Texas Dept. of Health - Bureau of Vital Statistics for the necessary steps to file a corrected birth certificate. It might be cheaper and just as effective.
