Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

dads gift

My friends parents are divorced and his dad has spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars buying him gifts and things his mom wont, like a guitar and playstation. His mom pawned them. He wanted me to find out if that was legal. He also wanted to know if it was legal for a parent to take a childs christmas money that other relatives gave him. Please answer my question, it will mean a lot.

I think your friend needs to talk to his Dad and explain what's going on.

As a minor child, the parents can pretty do whatever they want -- except leave bruises or try to kill him.

A minor child has very few rights against their parents. It is assumed that all parents do the best for their children.

Perhaps the father would like to ask the court to modify custody of the child.
