Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Daughter Afraid of Angering Husband
13 yrs. of marriage:son-in-law (Lebanese) made daughter move out. 3 children/sons-12&13/one daughter-4. My daughter addicted to RX during severe depressions/attempted suicide twice. She has contributed financially over $150,000. income, etc. but he says she has made him go broke; we are paying for ongoing treatment & in the past-paid for daycare, etc. They lived with us for 1.5 yrs while he finished college-degree/comptr science. He wants agreement to his terms, which entails co-custody and 6 mths pymt of her apartment until she gets another job. She doesn't want to anger him, afraid to see an attorney-just wants to ''be friends'' so he will let her see/have co-custody. At stake: kids, house equity, business income, retirement savings-amid accusations of drug abuse, etc. She has had mental/drug abuse problems/he has been verbally abusive-at the least. Advise, please.

Re: Daughter Afraid of Angering Husband
Better get your daughter:
1. a REALLY good divorce lawyer, and
2. a psychologist
tomorrow (since this is Sunday).
She has an excellent chance of losing the kids & property and it only gets worse by postponing her rehabilitation (from the drug addiction) and passive dependent activity.
Sinserely,
