Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My daughter and ex boyfriend have a child together, he spent more than a year in jail in NY and she moved to TX, he was just released and has supervised visitation once per month, now as i said we now live in TX and he is in NY, he is telling her he is going to take her to court for violating his visitation. we have never told him he cant see his kid, he is on parole and cant leave NY, can my daughter get in trouble because she cant afford to go to NY once a month, i wouldnt think so but i need to ask someone who knows.

It sounds like your daughter has legal custody of her child that has been signed by a judge.
She should keep at least one certified copy of these papers with her at all times.
If so, he will have to come to this court and he can ask the court to modify his current visitation schedule.
If your daughter does NOT have legal custody of this child, I'd be in a lawyers office immediately & begin the process.
It sounds like he is just trying to scare her. It sounds like he is doing a really good job of it!
I would sit down with an experienced family law attorney in your county & discuss your options. You can certainly find an attorney on this website that can assist you. I think a couple of hundred dollars spent on an attorney would be well worth the peace of mind you would gain.
I don't know where you live. If you live around the Houston area, I suggest that you contact Patricia Bushman at 713-807-9405. Tell her that I sent you.
