Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Daughter filed with the courts on June 14th but due to finances and not knowing where to serve him has been unable to serve him yet. She filed for joint custody which is how they have done it since being seperated for several yrs. She was served by him today from a lawyer not in the same county as his permanent residence and is seeking custody of my 7 yr old grandson. Does this dismiss her case? Please help I'm worried

The issue of venue and which court has continuing jurisdiction over the child has to be resolved first, and she will need to be represented by an attorney.
