I highly recommend that she consult with a family law attorney immediately since she obviously does not understand Texas family law.

Many offer a free consultation.

Many offer payment plans.

She probably needs to file for divorce with temporary orders to get child support started & to address child issues while the divorce is pending.

The Houston Bar Association's website has a free booklet on its site that covers family law.

Google them & look it up. It is long so she might not want to print it.

And, many attorneys also address divorce and child issues on their Texas websites. She can just Google questions and read all about divorce, child support, child custody in the State of Texas.

The Texas Family Code is also available on-line for free. The TX legislature is meeting as I write so some laws might change around 9/1/2013.
