Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

my daughter got married in Houston,TX three months ago in both Islamic and American way. Her dawer (meher) was agreed upon for a sum of $ 25,000.00 She wants a divorce now. Does American divorce law helps her recover her Meher?

I have treated the Meher as a premartial or prenuptial agreement in the past. As long as she did all she was supposed to do under the agreement, she should be able to recover under the contract.

BEWARE: Texas can be quite hostile to references to Islamic (or any non-US) law. So don't build your case around Sharia. Build your case around the CONTRACT.
