Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

If I want to have my daughter's biological father sign his rights over, do I have to have someone adopt her? My husband is willing to but we want to wait until she is older. Will this lower my chances of getting his rights taken away?

Courts like to have someone around to take the child's biological parent's place. So it helps to have the child adopted. That way if the marriage to the adoptive parent ends, there will be a parent around to support the child.
