Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Dead End
I have been working with the Attorney Generals Office for 2 years trying to get the 30,000 in child support that is due to me. I won't get into how hard it is dealing with the AG office, or that after 2 years nothing has been done for me. Recently i went in person to the AG office only to find out that someone in that office made a mistake entering info., it's shows my ex only owes a few hundred dollars. They told me it was an error and would be fixed. That was in October as of last week it still shows the error. With the amount he owes (the court house still shows he owes 30,000)why is it so hard for me to get what support he owes me and my daughter? Also, i was told by the AG office that since my daughter turned 18 we can not get his income tax. I think that is a law that protects my ex and does nothing for me. If he owes that money i should be able to get it no matter what age my child is. Everywhere i turn i hit a dead end! believe me if i could afford an attorney i would use one, but i can't so i am forced to go through the AG office. Maybe i should sue the AG office!
Thanks for your time

Re: Dead End
AG's office is very slow. I am surprised you cannot get an attorney with that amount of arrearage unless the money is simply not collectable. You may wish to look at the web site on my book, "How to Collect Child Support in Texas," at childsupporttexas.com.
