Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Dear LawGuru Attorneys:

I'm so distressed about my father's situation, I don't know what to do. He is a disabled veteran and right now has a tube coming out from the back of his neck, he just got surgery on his heart. He doesn't work and gets $1,000 a month on disability checks. He found out he had a son a few months ago with another woman and two months ago he was ordered to pay $589 a month! That is more than half of his earnings, he now is literally impoverished by the court decision, the judge told him to get a job, he didn't care about his heart condition, the fact that he is disabled, or his upcoming surgery. I don't know if someone could point me in the right direction how to appeal this decision or what can I do? Do I have to hire an attorney? I don't know how in the world we'd pay for that, my dad is left with only $410 dollars a month to survive. Please write me back at [email protected]. Thank You, Albert Guerra

File an appeal. I had the same situation a long time ago in Longview - a crazy judge set child support at 65% of my client's earnings, ruling that he had the POTENTIAL to make more money - we won the appeal.
