deceased comon-law husband
a friend of mine's husband past away 4-5 months ago. they were not legally married and had no joint accounts at all on anything even bills. the only proof is a child they had and witnesses. the guys husbands has thrown her out of everything he left. she believes he didn't leave a will. what can she do. she wants to sue the family for emotional distress and everything that belongs to their child

The easiest way I know to "sue" is to hire a lawyer. That will require some retainer. The amount of the retainer usually decides if the person doing the suing thinks the case is economically viable, i.e. if they don't want to pay a $5000 retainer, then the case usually isn't worth anything. Now if the deceased had some valuable property, maybe it's worth the trouble to file a lawsuit and seek justice. Good Luck.
