Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

According to my decree, my ex is not responsible for any of the transportation for the kids. My children were very young when we got divorced 8 years ago. Now, the kids are very involved in extra-curricular activities, which I have always tried to take them to, but the constant driving responsibilities without the help of the mother is becoming so burdensome that we spend a majority of time in transit on my weekends so they can attend the commitments she's made. I don't want them to miss anything, but I also don't want to spend a two hour roundtrip commute time in DFW 4 days in a row, if not more, when it's my time with my kids. My ex isn't willing to work with me on a compromise, like perhaps bringing them to my house on Fridays or picking them up on Sundays. What are the chances I could change my possession order in mediation or in court?

Depending on who your judge is, you might get some help from the Courts. You could ask for a modification (of your decree) in one of the two following forms:

1. Change it so that Mom's power to put the children in soccer programs and karate schools is limited somehow - for instance, no more than two such extracurricular activities for each child.

2. Change it to order that if Mom puts the child in to a program, and the program involves participation during YOUR periods of possession, MOM is required to do the transportation for that event for the child.

Modifying the terms and conditions of possession is very much like a custody fight, and is time-consuming for a lawyer (and therefore expensive for you).
