Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
define abandonment
My husband will not move out although he has been having an affair with the maid across the street, so I moved out with my 2 children. He now says I abandoned my home and can lock me out. Is that right??

Re: define abandonment
If you lived in the home, he can change the locks but you can still break into your home.
You can call the sheriff or police to come out and make sure you are safe while you remove some things from your home. They don't have the time or staff to watch you load up a moving truck.
You can call the police and I'm sure they will be glad to explain the law to you.
If you guys want to keep the locksmiths in business, you can play the "re-keying" game.
Moving out is NOT abandonment.
