Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Denied by Legal Aid. We share joint custody of two; I live in Texas and my ex lives in Louisiana with the kids. We divorced about 3 yrs ago and no child support order was made. Now my ex (domical parent) wants sole custody, denying my visitation, and seeking child support with retro pay. Legal aid in Texas referred me to legal aid in Louisiana. Louisiana legal aid denied me based upon conflict of interest. I can't afford an attorney. Can he get retro pay? How can I get my rights to an attorney? What advice do you have?; please help me.

1. He can't get retro pay. He MAY be able to get child support ordered as far back as the time he filed his motion for modification.
2. You have the right to hire an attorney, but you aren't entitled to have one appointed for you.
My advice: Go online and start gathering names and addresses of attorneys in Dad's geographic area. Write to them (paper letters - buy some 44-cent stamps). Tell them the whole story, and give them all of your contact information.
In the meantime, if there are any hearings set, be sure to attend them.
