divorce with a lawyer and they

are asking me to respond to

that in 20 days.

Is it nessesary for my to hire

an attorney?

Based on what you have written, the general time allowed to respond to a suit is 20 days. Generally, the party being served should respond to the suit or may face a default judgment being entered by the Court. It is never necessary to retain an attorney, but it may be wise to as there are many items involved within a divorce. No you don't *have* to hire an attorney. I'm sure your husband & his attorney are quite capable of setting up everything just the *they* want it. if you don't want anything or there is nothing to divide up, they can probably take care of it if that's OK with you. Good Luck.
