One is a motion filed by the (allegedly) aggrieved party. The show cause order orders the respondent to appear and "show cause" why he shouldn't be punished as alleged in the motion (the punishment requested usually includes jail time).

If you've been served with a show cause order, you should really, really plan to show up in court on the appointed day.
