Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Dismissing a Dom. Violence case?
My friend and his pregnant wife recently got into an arguement where he had to briefly physically restrain her. she has a bruise on each arm where this thumbs had held her. the next day she went to the police station to file a domestic violence claim trying to get something on file in case they divorce. When she found out they were going to arrest him, she backed out of the claim, but the state picked it up and is pressing charges. Now they both want this to go away but cant afford an attouney and dont know what else to do. Neither of them want jail time or expensive attouney fees... anyone know how they can get this dismissed before it becomes a bigger problem?

Re: Dismissing a Dom. Violence case?
She has started a ball rolling that will not easily be stopped. There is no magic solution to getting this dismissed. They may not want to pay attorney fees, but they are going to have to if they want this problem resolved in the least damaging way. An assault conviction will be far more costly in the long run.
