Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

dissolving adoption

We have a child we adopted from cps. He is now 14 and we have had him in Boys Country for 2 years. He is getting worse and has progressed to stealing. He has been under psychiatric care for 2 years also. Can we reverse the adoption? We are worried that the older he gets, the more trouble he will get into and we do not want to be legally responsible for him.

Re: dissolving adoption

How very sad. I have seen lots of evidence that CPS does a very poor job in adoption situations. The way that you get rid of a child who is too much of a bother is the same in adoption as it is in your own birth child. The suit is a termination of parental rights. Understand that this is permanent death of a family. So sad that you thought adopting a child was like getting a puppy - if they are not perfect you can always take em back to the pound.
