Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Division of Military Retirement

I have been in the military for 14 years and married for 10 of those years. I am a resident of Texas and will be filing for divorce there. How much of my military retirement is my wife authorized and how can I access the Family Code that describes how to compute the amount she should receive.

Re: Division of Military Retirement

You have been in the military for 14 years and married for 10 years. Your wife is eligible to receive 1/2 of 10/14 of your retirement when you retire. Plus other military benefits. The Texas Family Code is online. You should be able to locate it through LawGuru.
