Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
divorce attorney
I hired a lawyer for my divorce and paid a flat fee upfront. Unfortunately, due to the other side, things are becoming long and drawn out. My attorney wants more money - which I know is normal. However, he wants it upfront and I don't have it or any means of getting it. He laughs when I offer payments and refuses to do anything more on the case until he gets the money upfront. Frankly at this point, if I had the money he is asking for (which is almost twice what I paid to retain him to start with) I would look around and hire someone else, but the fact remains I used the only money I had to hire him. I don't qualify for legal aide, but there is also not much to spare after paying child support and living expenses. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: divorce attorney
Your options are limited. You are going to need to find the money to pay this lawyer's retainer, or find another attorney that will fight your case, based upon a payment plan.
