Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Divorce

In Aug. 07, after a 27 yr. marriage, I filed and received a divorce. I left my ex-wife everything, including a 401K (approx 40K) from a short term job I held. I recently found out she purchased a new home and would like the 401K back. She is better off than I thought. Any suggestions?

Re: Divorce

If you did the divorce in Oregon, I cannot answer your question since I'm not licensed to practice in that state.

If you divorced in Texas, after 30 days the court loses jurisdiction.

I cannot fully answer your question based on the limited amoutn of information your provided.

If the house was purchased during the marriage and/or she hid assets from you on purpose during the divorce process, then perhaps will allow you to divide "hidden assets".

You definately need to talk to your attorney about what you can do, if anything.

If you did not use an attorney, now you know why you should have hired an attorney!

I recommend that you call around and consult with an attorney as soon as possible.

Happy Thanksgiving!
