Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

In my divorce decree, It was agreed that If / when my ex husband sold the the mobile home and/or land that I would get half the money. He sold the mobile home and i got half the money, but My question is what happens if he were to die. i know he will never sell the land in his life time, but what happens if he dies. He is remarried so i am concerned about my rights to the land.

Interestingly enough, in connection with a title search, the real estate folks usually check DIVORCE records to see if the decree gave anybody any interests in LAND. It is very likely that you'll get paid just because of this.

In the alternative, you can RECORD your decree with the county clerk in the county where the land is located. It's expensive, though - usually $3/page.
