Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

According to our divorce decree my ex-husband was supposed to make partial payments on a student loan we are both responsible for, He has stopped making his portion of the monthly payment and I am stuck making the entire payment every month. What can I do? Is contempt applicable? Should I get a judgement now?or later?

Please help!!

You can't get a contempt against him for his failure to pay an ordinary debt. It would be illegal.

You can sue him for any monies that you've paid toward the debt that he was supposed to pay, but you'll only get a judgment that you can't collect.
