Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Divorce - May I deny for a couple of time?

My husband (American, Texan citicen) is asking for divorce. I (German) have my reasons to not accept now. Is he allowed to ask for divorce without my agreement? How long is length of separation in Texas? Do I need to explain why I do not accept divorce now? How can I protect myself from illegal steps (faking my signature)? Does the courthouse in question have to take care to proof my signature after being warned that this might happen? I already advised the courthouse and it seems that they are not willing to check on any signatures. Can I insist on it by sending them a letter from a German attorney?

Thank your for answering my questions as soon as possible!

Re: Divorce - May I deny for a couple of time?

In Texas if one party does not want to be married, the court will eventually grant a divorce.

A divorce must be on file for a minimum of 61 days.

If you have been served papers, you need to file a document known as an Answer.

I think you need a Texas attorney to represent you.

If the divorce was filed in Harris County, my office charges a deposit of $990 then weekly payments of $150/week. If you overpay us, we refund any unused money at the end.

Good luck!
