Re: divorce

You can certainly buy an on-line kit or kit at an office supply store.

Be advsied that the office supply store kit -- in small letters -- says that the state forms are NOT included.

Many of the on-line kits don't work. I'm sure that some do but I have copies of approximately 6 kits from clients that don't work.

I often wonder about the 100% guarantee -- good luck getting your money back from a website that might be located anywhere on the planet.

If the kit includes lot of "exhibits" such as financial information statements, those are NOT necessary in Texas if the people are in full agreement.

There are also some 1-800 advertisements that I've called for fun and they totally misrepresent how to do a divorce in Texas.

If the kit says you don't need to serve or have your spouse's signature to get divorced, it won't work in Texas.

Also, you MUST appear before a Judge in Texas in order to get the divorce finalized. None of the kits I've seen include the information that you must testify to under oath before the Judge.

None of the kits I've seen include the State of Texas form that is required for all divorces in Texas. It is an unique form that is only required in Texas.

I offer a do it yourself divorce kit for people with no kids or property beginning under $200.

The filing fees in Harris County are approximately $250.

You should be able to get divorced for under $500.
