Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Where is my divorce filed?

My ex (?) told me he filed for divorce 2 years ago and that it was final. I don't know what area he was living in and he had reached me through my parents who moved last year. (kept where I was, from him due to family violence on his part). I can't locate him or his relatives now. Is there anyway for me to find out if and where the divorce was filed?

I agree with Mr. Grissom -- but it just occurred to me, that everytime a divorce is granted, the attorney's are required to submit the basic information to the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Austin. You may contact them to see if they maintain that information in a form that is accessible. This would only be helpful if he got the divorce in Texas.

Start by looking in the county where your X lives or lived 2 years ago. I doubt if you find anything. There is no national registry or such website for divorce decrees. If you want to be divorced, you will probably have to do it yourself. Good Luck.
