Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Divorce

My husband and i have been separated since 1991. I am trying to do my own divorce. I bought a home in 2004. The Petition for Divorce and the Divorce Decree states to enter property received before marriage, but in the instructions it states to enter property received before marriage. Do I still have to list my home?

Re: Divorce

You should have started earlier. Your home was acquired during the marriage and is technically community property. Might want to get a lawyer now before you have to buy back the house from your husband. Good Luck.

Re: Divorce

I offer do it yourself divorce kits for people.

The price depends on what you own.

You need your husband to sign his interests away in the house. I can give you the document he needs to sign. Then you need to file it in the real estate records in the county you live in.

If you bought a kit on-line and the company was NOT located in Texas, I'm 75% sure that the judge will NOT approve your final decree of divorce.

At least, the judges in Harris County won't sign incorrect decrees.

If you don't handle the real estate properly then your husband can hold up any future sale of the property or he can ask for 50% of the house.

You get what you pay for!

I have an agreement with my dentist -- I don't pull my own teeth and he does not practice law!
