Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Divorce involving minor child

My husband is in the military, stationed overseas. We got married after I found out I was pregnant, but he has rarley been home. We have been married since Oct. of 2001, but we have never lived together because the military is constantly sending him to some school or on an assignment. I filed for divorce in January of 2003. He gave his mother power of attorney and she responded to the papers by filing a counter-plea. But now she says that I have to wait for her son to get back before I can get a divorce. He supports our daughter financially, but that is all. We do not recieve letters or phone calls and have no way to get in direct comunication with him. Can I divorce my husband while he is overseas? How do I avoid dealing with his mother's intervention?
