Divorce and Irs Taxes

If I were to divorce my husband, who would be responsable to pay the years of back taxes? He was self employeed for years and refused to pay taxes. After setting payment plans up with tax attorneys, he stops paying for eighteen years now.

Your attorney needs to incorporate this debt, and detail the issues in the decree. Additionally, there are IRS provisions for an 'innocent spouse' in situations where the spouse had no knowledge and no control. It may be very appropriate in your circumstances.
