Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Divorce Issues
I filed a petition for divorce 3 months ago. My husband will not sign the waiver but stated he filed a response. He claims he is not contesting the divorce. He thinks he will be responsible for some of my debts (although he has not worked in over 2 years). We have been separated for over a year. During our 8 year marriage I responsibly paid all debts, utilities, etc. We have no joint accounts or debts and no children.
Do I need to list all my debts in the decree although we have nothing jointly?
Will I get a copy of his response or further instructions from the court?
Do I go ahead and file the final decree with the court?
What do I do now?
Please, Please, Please Help!!!!

Re: Divorce Issues
Attorneys are ethically prohibited from giving you instructions on how to practice law. You will have to learn it the same way an other attorney did. Judges are not supposed to help you either although a small number might. You'll have to read up on this or ask other people who have done this without an attorney. Good Luck.
