Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Divorce to a man that went back home over seas already

My husband left me a few months ago, and went back to Pakistan. I haven't heard from him since, except for his family telling me is in UAE with them. Now , how do I divorce this man legally? I know where he is, but my funds are very limited. I have to do this soon, because i still have his petition for green card out. He left me and my child with no money, and all the bills were four months behind. I don't know what to do about this, since I am already working two jobs and I am barely making it.

You might be able to get some help from your local bar association. Look in the yellow pages for the number for the (county) bar association. Many times they have a program to assist people with a divorce.

Contact the office of the Texas Attorney General and ask for establishment and enforcement of a child support order. Once that gets started, he might make an appearance in that court. If he does, you might have a private attorney join a divorce to that action. You might also desire to have the INS cancel your application for a green card on behalf of your husband. Also, St. Mary's Law School (in San Antonio) might have some sort of family law clinic. Yours would be a very good educational tool for family law and international law students supervised by a professor. Good Luck,
