I have been married since 1984 my husband deserted me and my kids in 1989 we have not seen him since. How hard would it be to get a divorce when one person cant be found

Just because you don't know where he is and can't find him with your sources, doesn't mean he "can't be found". Now days with the internet, people can be found relatively easily. Most judges have difficulty believing that someone can't be found. But if he really cannot be found, you would have to pay for a newspaper advertisment to try to notify him of the divorce (about $600 in Houston), and pay for his attorney (about $750 in Houston) in addition to paying the filing fees (about $250) and your attorney (probably at least $2,000 in this case).
