Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My divorce papers state that as a parent with joint custody I have exclusive rights to decide where my son lives within 100 miles of Tarrant County. Does that mean I am limited to where I can live?
Answer (1 of 1) The family code language states "within the county and contiguous counties," when placing geographical restrictions. This is done for the "best interest of the children." So, the answer to your question is YES!
Is this something that is hard to get dropped? I just got engaged to a man who is in the Air Force and it is almost certain that he will transfer bases in the next couple of years- I need to make sure I can take my son with me when we move.

You will have to go to court to drop this restriction, otherwise, you will be in contempt to court.
