Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Divorce

I am doing my own divorce. The the other party has not signed or respond to my divorce petitioin and it has been almost 6 months since I gave him the divorce papers. I just had him served this week by the courts. I am in Texas and he lives in Louisiana. My case is scheduled to be dismissed on 9/04/08 if everthing is not finalized. I would like to know if it is too early or too late to request a default judgement and what are the requirements?

Re: Divorce

If you're acting as your own lawyer, you need to read up on the rules and be prepared to finalize your case yourself - that's part of being your own lawyer. But just to give you a clue, the answer is in the Rules of Civil Procedure. Good Luck.
