Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Divorce Petition Service
I need to know acceptable ways of
serving divorce papers in Texas,
can they be done by mail, or
certified mail?

Re: Divorce Petition Service
Normally you need personal service - a constable, deputy or process server personally handing the person the papers.
Perhaps the fact you don't even know how to start the suit should suggest to you that you need an attorney. Contrary to what many people think, divorces, like other lawsuits, are not really DYI.
Re: Divorce Petition Service
It can be done by certified mail, service by a law enforcement officer or a certified process server. Generally, personal service is best because a certified letter can simply be ignored and it will take considerable time for the post office to notify you that the letter was not picked up. I suggest you contact a lawyer for assistance.
