once the potition is filed, how long does the sherrifs office have to serve her? how long does she have to reply

The standard for the parties is due diligence. You have to make sure that the sherif is attempting to serve the other party, otherwise, the citation could be at the sherif's office or worse yet, at the court house not been served. Make sure you follow up with the sherif.

Once the Petition is filed, assuming you paid for service, she will be served when she's served. There is no set timeline. If she can not be found to be served, the paperwork will be returned to the Court unserved. If she is served, she has until the Monday immediately following the 20th day after she was served to file her Answer.

You really should hire a good family law attorney. Without putting to fine a point on it, you do not know what you are doing and any divorce that requires service is not in the DIY league. Good luck!
