Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
''Divorce''
I am a South Africa citizen living in TX for the past three years. I am a legal resident. How do I apply for a divorce. Do I apply through my country of residence or my country of citizenship? Where can I get the relevant forms?
Your response will be appreciated.

Re: ''Divorce''
As long as you meet the residency requirements you may petition for divorce here.

Re: ''Divorce''
Your citizenship and immigration status doesn't effect your ability to petition for a divorce in Texas now that you are a Texas resident. However, a divorce may have an impact on your immigraion status if you obtained it through your marriage to a US citizen. You didn't mention where your spouse resides or if they ever resided in Texas. If you need any help, give me a call.
Re: ''Divorce''
Although a SA citizen, you are now a legal TX resident. You can petition for divorce in the county in which you reside. The forms are available at the local law library.
