Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Divorce and Suit
We got married per Texas laws about six months prior. It was an family arranged marriage. Per our religious and cultural customs we did not have the ''giving away the bride function'' and had only the ''Nikah''which is contracting for marriage only'' so we never consumated the marriage and have been living in different cities. No children or common property. After the marriage I came to know certain facts which the brides side had hidden from us so in a way they used fraud to entice this relationship. As if we had known about those facts we would not have proceeded with this relationship. This led to irreconcilable difference between us and out families and I have filed for preferrably annulment otherwise divorce and had her mailed the paperwork. However I got served later on with divorce letter plus being suied for mental and emotional trauma by the bride. I wanted to know what options I have and whether they are eligible to even file such a suit and would I be held accountable to pay her for the suit. What options do I have. Would look forward for a reply. Thank you

Re: Divorce and Suit
It is unclear from your question whether you actually filed a suit to terminate your marriage or in what state. Mailing her a notice of suit does not meet the legal requirements for proper service and notification of a law suit in Texas. It is also unclear from your question whether she filed a new suit or a counter-petition to yours. You would do well to contact an attorney and discuss your case.
