Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I am getting a divorce and it is uncontested. I have been requested to get the house and my car in my name. These payments have been made by me for a period of time. I do have the records to show that I have been making the payments monthly. What process needs to take place for these items to be switched over to my name. Do I need to get qualified for the house?
Please forward any information as soon as possible.
Thank You,

You can make the payments but you cannot make the mortgage company or the company with the car loan put those loans in your name. No court can order a creditor or mortgage company to do it.
If your credit is bad, no court can order a third party creditor to give you credit.
How do you get qualified for a mortgage? Have good credit or get a co-signor.
I highly recommend that you hire an attorney to help you. These are very complex and expensive assets. By trying to save money, you could be wasting a lot of money in the long run.
You could make all the payments on the vehicle and in the end the car would be in your ex's name and the vehicle would legally belong to the ex-spouse.
