Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Going through a divorce and my ex has unlawfully changed the locks on our lease house and has locked in my belongings. He told me and the police that he has a restraining order on me -to not come on the property- and has removed my name from the lease, all of which is untrue. Police working on my case hasn't returned any of my phone calls and I just want my belongings. There is also a car in his name that I take care of financially (notes and maintenance) can he just come pick it up at any time? ADVICE PLEASE!

You need to immediately hire an attorney and file the necessary paperwork to get the matter on the Court's docket for temporary orders. Also, once you have an attorney, they can call his attorney in an effort to get immediate access at least to clothing. I am a board certified specialist in the field of amily law, practicing in the general Houston area. I would be glad to visit with you about the options if you would contact me directly at 713-600-5500.

No competent attorney will attempt to answer your questions without reviewing the divorce papers on file.

You need to hire an attorney.

If he has not filed a divorce yet. Then you need to file for a divorce and ask for a temp. order hearing & get in front of a judge and ORDER your spouse to return your "stuff".

I'd call PATRICIA BUSHMAN at 713-807-9405 and get in to see her as soon as possible. She offers payment plans and is a tough attorney that will fight for you.

Good luck.

Tell Pat that Fran sent you. (I rent space in her office). My mom is ill so I'm not taking new cases at this time.
