Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

divorce

I have been waiting in Texas for 2 years just to get my ex into mediation. We did meet an agreement through mediation. I signed and he signed at mediation. I am now waiting on the final draft, to sign. It has now been another 30 days waiting for the call. My lawyer said we were waiting on the other side to send there paper work, and that we had completed our end of the work. During the mediation the other sides lawyer threatened to not represent him due to non payment and unreasonable request, and let him know that they must settle that night. Which we did. If the divorce is being held up because of the other side, how long must I wait, and can a judgebe called in to simply say ''This is enough, you are divorced!'' Please help me understand.

Re: divorce

Understand? I don't understand either. Most (maybe some) would have dismissed this case long ago. Recognizing that all courts require mediation nowadays, somebody is letting things slide here. You're represented by counsel. These questions should be answered by your attorney, but it's usual to wait about 30 days between events, then all of a sudden it's been 2 years. Good Luck.

Re: divorce

The Judge isn't going to do that; dismiss the case possibly, but not just say "you are divorced". Tell your attorney you are willing to pay for him/her to do the drafting to get this divorce finished.
