I am wanting to file for a divorce and am looking for the most inexpensive route. Do I need to hire an attorney if I want half of my husband's retirment?

Yes. QDROs (Qualified Domestic Relations Orders) are not easy and require specialized knowledge. If you want part of his retirement you will need a QDRO. An attorney now is a good investment in your future.
