Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Divorce

My wife and I are going to get a divorce but one area of concern is our house and how that would be divided in the state of Texas. We owe more then the house is worth so how would that settled in a divorce case? I'm basing our house worth on the county tax appraisal. Would the court base the value of the house off of the county tax appraisal or would we have to get an independent appraisal?

Re: Divorce

You make it sound like this is an agreed divorce, so it's up to the two of you to work out what you want to do about the house, not the Court. The value of the house needs to be based on something you both agree on.

I really suggest you hire a good family law attorney. Usually when there's a house there are kids and a divorce with property and kids is not a DIY kind of thing.
