Re: Divorce

The inherited money is all hers, and she might have a claim for half of everything else if it was paid for during the marriage. A family law attorney will need to go over everything in detail with you. A successful divorce requires good legal advice. Just because you don't know it doesn't mean she hasn't retained an attorney already.

Re: Divorce

It appears that the home and vehicles are part of the community estate and therefore you and your wife have a one half undivided interest in such. Whether property is "in your name" is irrelevant to status as community property. The land your wife inherited appears to be her separate property and you may have no claim to it. The status of the child is unclear from your question. If the child was hers from another relationship and you legally adopted her/him then you have an equal claim to that child. If you adopted the child alone and she has no legal relationship to the child then she has no claim to the child. It is also unclear from your question what kind of papers she is reluctant to sign. There is no need for an opposing party to sign a petition for divorce, or even, in some cases, a final decredd of divorce. You should sit down with an attorney to discuss your situation.
