Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Divorce
My wife and I have been legally married for 11 years. we have not resided together for a total of 4 of those years, including the past 4 years. she is filing for divorce through legal aid with a lawer, she says she is going for spousal support and to be put on my insurance and for me to provide her with cell phone service. I am about to apply for dissability and am currently making less than $1,300.00 a month. can I be liable for these things ? I know she plans on lying and I will tell the truth about every thing...

Re: Divorce
You should find a good family law attorney. Without an attorney you may never get to tell anyone anything. There are specific conditions that have to be met for her to get spousal support unless you decide to agree to it. You can't be required to put her on your insurance after the divorce since you will have no insurable interest in her after you are divorced and her cell phone is her problem.
Many family law attorneys will work with you on payments. Good luck.
Re: Divorce
Once you divorce, most insurance policies won't let you carry her on your insurance. If you keep her on as your spouse, then you will have a common law marriage.
She can ask for anything but only a judge can grant it.
She can ask for spousal support but it is not automatically granted.
If you are on disability, you might qualify for a free attorney too.
If you can raise some money, I highly recommend PATRICIA BUSHMAN who also answered your question. She's top notch!
