Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

getting a divorce/by ourselves

ok, i am in the military, my wife is currently in texas and filed for divorce in texas. Me and her made a set agreement that i would pay her 400 a month while i was deployed and we were seperated, she wrote it in an e-mail stating as such. her lawyer is saying that she is entitled to half of everything that i make, base pay, BAH, combat pay, and sea pay. what is she entitled to? and does it matter that she made a statement in balck and white that she only wanted so much a month?

Re: getting a divorce/by ourselves

Apparently you're not getting a divorce by yourselves. Sounds like she got herself a lawyer. I'm not sure whether her lawyer is an idiot or an advocate (sometimes it's hard to tell the difference), but I don't know why she would be entitled to 1/2 of your income unless you have 6 or more children. Maybe there is some misunderstanding. I think you should get a TX lawyer in the county where she filed for the divorce. I think you should do it very quickly. If you need some help, contact me by email. Stay safe.
