Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I got divorced in sept of 08. exwife got to leave texas to go to iowa. In the divorce decree she was awarded some back temporary maintenance. this then transferred to Iowa. I recently terminated parental rights to our child and a stipulation of that was that all back monies owed would be dropped. This didn't get done and now I can't get a passport. Her attorney agrees that this needs to be dropped but wants me to get the paper done and Iowa needs a court order saying I don't owe it to drop me off the no passport list. Iowa says they call it a satisfaction of judgement but they're not sure what it would be called in texas. Again, her attorney here said he will back me up if I need help, but I need to know what form it would be and what it would cost.

The child support division of the Texas attorney general's office maintains an account of child support owed this does not change unless they receive a certified copy of a court order that changes the child support. The key is that you need an order signed by the judge. If you don't have a court order, you need to hire an attorney to get one. Your ex's lawyer has essentially told you that they will not oppose your efforts to get one.
