Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Ive been divorced over 10yrs now & I kept my married name. I would like to go back to my maiden name now-is there a fee? and what is the process? All taken place in the the state of Texas & Im still in Texas. Thank you

Yes, you can change your name back to your maiden name, but now you have to create a new lawsuit. Filing fees and attorney fees vary by county. Generally, it would be approximately $300 in filing fees and $500 in attorney fees, depending upon where you live. You have to establish that you are not avoiding creditors, or have a criminal history that prevents your name change.
