Re: domestic partners
If you live in the Houston area, there are many "gay or gay-friendly" attorneys that assist people with splitting their property when the relationship ends.
Since TX does not recognize gay marriage, you would be looking to civil law to help you.
One name that comes to mind is MITCHELL KATINE. Be sure to tell him that FRAN sent you!
Essentially, if both parties agree, you would do a "divorce" through the civil courts.
As a mediator, I encourage people to settle disputes between themselves and not spend all their money on attorneys and going to the courthouse. It's much better when people can work things out privately and without a lot of "drama".
